Shivaji Maharaj Museum, Bandekar, Matheran

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj museum is situated near the Echo point entrance in Matheran. This is inside the Ruby Hall premises. This museum is owned by Bandekar where he has started this museum to create awareness and to spread knowledge about the great warrior Shivaji Maharaj and his duties and life stories through carved murals as well as historic ancient ammunitions. Some are original where as some are recreated artifacts. There are 3 rooms in a house which itself is the old time relic but packed with the fragrance of history.

ENTRY FEE: Rs 10 per person (No time limit)

A must visit for every one to go into the history of our great leader and warrior. A necessary visit for the kids to make them learn deeper about our history.

The museum has lots of artifacts and weapons of that time. some are original some are replica but it gives a good idea about what type of weapons and objects were used during the time of Shivaji Maharaj. There are vessels, weapons, old locks, canons, swords, knife, armour, maps, writings, and so on. There are many murals with information narrating stories.

One can visit this museum on the way to Echo point. A caretaker of the museum will provide basic information about the museum. There are refreshments stall outside the museum. This museum is a must visit to get short and important information about Shivaji Maharaj life's events. It is open from morning till evening. Not many people know about the museum as Matheran is famous for its natural points but yes this is definitely included in Matheran and one must visit it for sure.
