Big Chowk Point, Matheran

Big Chowk point is named as it is larger than the little chowk point in terms of area as well as size. Big chowk point overlooks the Varosa forest valley and one can see Prabalgad, Irshalgad and One tree hill pinnacle from here. This point is big and quite open. It provides a full Morbe dam view. One can see the two villages at the base Ambewadi and Tadwadi from where the One tree hill trek starts. From this route of One tree hill Hugh Pointz Malet first trekked up the Matheran in 1850.

Also distance between Little Chowk and Big Chowk is around 800m. There are no stalls at Big point and it is around 3.5-4 km from main Matheran market.

One can also see the Cliffs of Chowk as the cliff of Chowk point is very steep. The cliffs are broken at certain points. Like Little chow Big Chowk is also secluded unlike other points of Matheran due to its distance from market. This is also the southern most point of Matheran.
