One tree hill is yet another beautiful point in Matheran. It has a unique small pinnacle shaped structure on the top which is standing a single tree. Hence its name is derived as One tree hill. This point provides good views of Prabalgad and Irshalgad.
However this is a trek point. Usually this is called one tree hill trek. One can trek up to Matheran from Chowk village via one tree hill route. This is also one of the famous trek route to Matheran. the route comes up besides the one tree hill pinnacle. The village people use this route to come up to do business. The route is simple with lots of dense trees and shrubs. This place is serene and calm and provides a full view of Prabalgad.
To climb the pinnacle of one tree hill is steep and dangerous if slippery or during monsoon. the valleys are steep and can be fatal if not taken care. The trek route starts from Ambewadi/Tadwadi village near Morbe dam. This was the route from which Hugh Pointz Malet first trekked up the Matheran plateau.
